Membership
We are glad you sense a desire to join Maranatha so we'd like you to understand our view of Membership and Ministry.
Not everyone who comes to Maranatha is a member, nor do you have to be. Everyone is welcome here-wherever they are at in life-even if they aren't a Christian or don't believe in God.
We view our spiritual journey as a racetrack. Many people are spectators of the Christian experience, but aren't really engaged in the race themselves. The first step in entering the race is to be committed to the person of Jesus Christ by being born again. This is being committed to salvation-we call it "turn #1".
Next, we encourage Christians to be committed to membership in a local church that accurately teaches the biblical Gospel-this is turn #2. Sadly, many Christians are content to stay at turn #1 without progressing in their spiritual growth and maturity.
Membership is a privilege, and along with privilege comes responsibility. A member needs to be a mature Christian who demonstrates commitment and consistency. No one has to become a member, but those who choose to commit to membership find that they grow in their relationship with the Lord and with His people as they continue around the racetrack through ongoing discipleship and service.
Membership classes and seminars are offered on a regular basis so that you can complete all the requirements generally within a 3-month period of time. In this way you have more time get to know us better, and we get to know you, too. If you have any questions, please contact the church office , or at 651-464-3131.
